Caller ID Spoofing
I remember a few years ago with the introduction of home brewed Voice-Over-IP solutions, you could set up your own PBX at your house with a beta version of Asterisk or some other software. Using this complicated software and a little (ok, maybe a lot) of tech savvy, you could spoof your caller ID information to all your friends. You know, the number that pops up on everyone’s cell phone when they’re getting a call?
Now, you no longer need to run your own VOIP solution to be able to do this. With the creation of Spoofcard you can easily spoof your caller ID information to be whatever you want! This service has a number of applications including, but not limited to:
- Private Investigators
- Victims of Domestic Abuse
- Playing pranks on your friends
- Or many other creative uses!
I found out about this service from a couple friends of mine that are Private Investigators. I’m always bugging them about ways to stay private and out of all the databases out there, so people like them can’t find me. They said Spoofcard was one thing I could use to always hide my phone number. I gave it a try and it was REALLY easy. Plus, it’s really inexpensive with the cheapest option starting at $10! And for $10 you get 60 minutes of spoofing fun!
