Real ID Draft Regulations Released by DHS

Last week DHS released the “Notice of Proposed Rulemaking” for the REAL ID Act of 2005. This is proposed implementation plan that will serve as a guide for the states and what will be the minimum acceptable standards for drivers licenses and identification that is acceptable by federal agencies for official use. While I’ve not read over the entire 162 page document yet, I will. Upon first glance and my initial readings of this proposal, there are so many facets to cover and I plan on spending the next few days doing that.

I read this article on news.com the other day and I’m just now getting around to writing up a few comments. Basically, the highlights are as follows and are taken directly from the article:
